Ceramic Guinea Fowl
These beautiful ceramic guinea fowl are hand-decorated and enamelled. They are the special creation of Les Ceramiques de Lussan.
Heidi Caillard started making ceramic Guinea Hens in 1974 in the small town of Lussan in the Provence Region of the south of France. Today, her son Adrien Caillard runs the small pottery and has started to export their wonderful interpretations of the guinea hens, chickens, and quail that run free in the gardens of the pottery.
The forms are timeless and serene. The glazing, colors and decorations are subtle and lovely. There are three sizes in each color and style, and they can be grouped or mixed as you wish and as best fits your home.
Each one is made of clay covered with a "slip" (clay mixed with oxides) and then decorated by hand. It is then enameled with a transparent coating and baked at 980 degrees centigrade for 8 hours.
